Tips For Grooming A Dog
Grooming a dog is an important part of being a responsible pet owner. Bathing and brushing are important as is nail trimming and dental care.
Grooming A Dog – Proper Grooming Techniques For The Different Breeds Of A Dog
Grooming a dog has come to be an essential part of its grooming. The dog’s coat requires thorough brushing to remove loose dirt and dander, moisturize it and provide protection from allergies and infections. It is necessary to regularly comb and clean the hair to maintain the coat’s health and beauty. The dog also needs a bath once a week to remove all the matted hair and other unsanitary residue that develop because of constant brushing and bathing. In addition to these, grooming a dog helps it look good and regain shine.
Dog grooming usually refers to the cleansing and hygienic maintenance of dogs, both his physical appearance and his behavioral traits that are related to his breed. A dog groomer is someone who makes a living by grooming various breeds of dogs. In general, there are four types of dogs that require different types of bathing. These are the Indian, the European, the coast and the long-haired breeds. The breeds that need coats can be categorized into four: the short haired, the long-haired, the flat-coat and the long-haired breeds.
Grooming A Dog Needs To Be A Routine
Every dog needs to have a daily grooming routine. This should include nail trimming and ear cleaning, a bath, brushing the coat and hair, clipping the nails and de-matting the coat. The dogs that require more bathing are the long-hairs, the flat-coat and the long-haired breeds. The long-hair dogs require more bathing because their coats tend to get tangled and matted. Also, the dog needs to brushed thoroughly in order to avoid matting of the coats that are usually washed before a walk outside.
The breeders have special grooming products such as shampoos that can be used on these types of dogs. These special shampoos are designed to make them softer and smoother. The cuticle of the dog’s coat will also be removed to allow for the shampoos to work properly. These pet shampoos can be found at many pet stores and over the internet.
Different Breeds Have Different Needs
Some of the breeds, such as the Border collie, the British bulldog, the dachshund and the English mastiff need to have coats trimmed every six to eight weeks. The breeders have specially been trained to trim these coats to ensure that they are silky soft and shiny. This is important for their well-being as they do not shed as much fur as the other breeds. Some dogs, like a Golden Retriever, need brushing but less trimming.
Brushing the coat is also necessary with the double-coated dogs as well. When brushing, it is best to use a brush that has soft bristles that will not damage the double-coated coat. It is important to use the right brush to prevent the hair from being pulled out. It is recommended that you give the dog a treat when you brush its coat.
